Why choose me?

During my career I have worked in a number of different roles before setting up ISJ Financial Planning. Those jobs often required interviews and, inevitably, the interviewer would ask me “why I was right for the role?”, or “why should they give me the job?”

As someone who is naturally self-deprecating I always found those questions hard to answer. Nevertheless, they are important, therefore with all due modesty, here are some of the reasons why I know my clients choose to work with me:

I am a Chartered Financial Planner

That means putting a plan in place to deliver your financial objectives, whatever they are. Of course, that means firstly spending time identifying those objectives, something which can be surprisingly hard to do.

I firmly believe that being able to give independent financial advice benefits my clients.

But, my independence doesn’t stop there.

I wholly own my business and am authorised directly by the Financial Conduct Authority (FCA). Combined, these give me another layer of independence.

I work with clients in Leicester and London. My clients tell me that being local to them is a key benefit to working with me; it means I can be more reactive and often meet at short-notice if the need arises.

Not your ‘traditional’ adviser

With only 25% of Chartered Financial Planners being female, I am not your traditional Financial Planner.

Picture in your mind’s eye a financial adviser; you’re probably thinking about a grey-haired gentleman, suited and of advancing years. There’s no doubt my profession is changing, but that stereotype is often realistic. You may have noticed that I’m very different to that profile; I know it is welcomed by clients.

You will find me to be ‘professionally informal’; no stuffiness or formality, but nevertheless, a determination to get the job done and help you achieve your financial objectives.

I only work with certain types of people. That gives me an in-depth knowledge of their financial problems and challenges, as well as the possible solutions. That just isn’t possible if I tried to advise everyone.

However, I don’t just work with wealthy individuals. If you are serious about planning your financial future, no matter how much money you have, I’d love to hear from you.

Yes, ISJ Independent Financial Planning is a new business. It’s been years in the planning and I am very proud to have started my own practice. But, my clients benefit from my 22 years of working as a financial services professional.

Investing in my business

I am proud to run my own business, but am aware that to continue delivering high-quality, independent, financial advice, I need to invest in it.

I have therefore taken the decision that ISJ Independent Financial Planning will use the latest, cutting-edge, technology. This includes financial forecasting software, a state-of-the-art back-office system and a portal giving clients access to online valuations.

Third-party reviews

I have also engaged the services of a third-party reviewer to check my advice and regularly audit my business. After a thorough due diligence process, I have selected Simply Biz as my partner due to their commitment to quality and experience.
